Congratulations Miguel Angel Jiménez for your victory in Dubai

Audemars Piguet ambassador and 46-year old professional golfer from Spain Miguel Angel Jiménez won the Dubai Desert Classic tournament last Sunday, on February 7, 2010.

After a solid first round, Jiménez scored 67, five under par, in the second round to position himself joint 2nd, just one shot away from the leader. He then took a share of the lead at the end of the third round with a card of 68.

After the fourth round and the regular 72 holes, Jiménez was tied at eleven under par with another Audemars Piguet ambassador, Lee Westwood. It’s only at the 3rd play-off hole that Jiménez secured the victory!

Jiménez adds a 16th title to his professional career wins – the 9th he claims in his 40s – 18 months after he last lifted a trophy in May 2008 at the BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth, UK.

The prize money received in Dubai enables Jiménez to take a huge step up the ladder of the official golf world ranking from the #60 to the #30 spot.

Thanks to this move well inside the Top 50, Jiménez is guaranteed a spot in the first Major of the season, The Masters in April, and very likely to qualify for the second Major, the US Open in June
