The two most common alloys in steel that people get contact dermatitis from are nickel and chromium. Find a watch made with real titanium which is hypoallergenic.

How to Deal with Skin Allergy When Wearing Watches?

My friend wears a Rado quartz watch for a long time. Someday, she found her skin in contact with the case back of the watch become dark accompanied by cortical thickening and a little itchy feeling. If you meet this situation, it is skin allergy.

To find the reason and figure out treatment, we first should know the materials of a watch. As we all known, watches’ stainless steel case contains Nickel which is harmful to human body. Excessive intake will bring some diseases for people. The Nickel will be dissolved, permeating into human’s skin sweat. Then it becomes a threat to people’s health. In modern society, with the raising of modern people’s green environmental awareness, the international society pays more attention to this problem and makes a industry standards of Nickel’s exudation of watches’ case and strap. It mainly aims to limit harmful substances of watch components.

If you ensure that you are allergic, then don’t wear stainless steel watch. It is best to wear a watch with titanium case and strap. Titanium alloy has the best affinity to human body. Also you can choose ceramic, plastic watches. Even though you want to choose stainless steel case watch, you’d better choose the watch with leather or rubber strap.

If you just have stainless steel watch, my suggestion is segregation. Using a small piece of leather, cut according to watch back’s shape and size, then stick it on the back with glue. (As you see in the picture) Of course, you can use natural agate.

Also, you can choose watch with transparent back, as sapphire. And the strap has o lot of kinds, such as leather, plastic, textile and rubber.
