Zenith’s New Ambassador

This summer, Vicente del Bosque led the Spanish national soccer team to the top of the world in South Africa. Under his direction, la Roja played the best soccer on offer at this year’s World Cup. The team “ran as smoothly as a Swiss watch” according to the press.

Ironically, Switzerland was the only team to beat the Spanish selection during the entire tournament! Happily, it seems the coach did not take offense at this unusual faux pas. He is now the new ambassador of the Zenith Swiss Watches brand, the Swiss Manufacture that created the world’s most accurate mechanical chronograph: the famous El Primero.

On July 11th, all of Spain went wild when Andrés Iniesta, nicknamed “The Particle Accelerator” brought World Cup victory to his country for the first time in its history. This triumph was primarily down to the work of one man: the high priest of polished soccer and a manager with excellent people skills, who chalked up a remarkable score of 31 wins in 33 matches, earning the admiration of the entire soccer world. Vicente del Bosque is only the second coach in soccer history to have won both the Champions League and the World Cup. The national selector imposed his choices gently, without fanfare: this is the strength of this discreet man, who is now adored by the Spanish population.

Today, Vicente del Bosque and his loyal right-hand man Jos?Antonio Grande have become two new ambassadors for the ZENITH Manufacture. The coach loves well executed work, rigor and precision; he also appreciates exploits, particularly that of the El Primero caliber, which is today’s most accurate standard mechanical movement in the world.

Del Bosque has chosen to wear the El Primero Captain model, which embodies the finest expression of ZENITH’S heritage: all of the brand’s expertise—technique, precision and design—has been incorporated into this extraordinary timepiece. The Captain range expresses very masculine classical elegance and extreme technical complexity. It is a watch with great ambitions, fit for a captain.

Swarovski is launching two new watch lines

Swarovski is launching two new watch lines, one of which is a Numbered, Limited Edition, that echo its second collection unveiled at the Baselworld international watchmaking fair in March 2010.

Five exceptional models further enrich a collection which is now made up of nine lines and 50 models. The hallmarks of Swiss watchmaking are once more in evidence, ensuring optimum quality and incredible precision, alongside the unique cut-crystal expertise of a company with over 100 years?history.

Swarovski has created a watch entitled Rock ’n’Light with this version featuring diamonds and available in three colours, each one numbered and limited to 999 units. A result of the “Avant Time” concept launched in 2009 with the D:Light this exceptional model expresses Swarovski’s vision of time today. These spectacular watches are joined by two Elis Bangle pieces, featuring pav?Crystal Mesh, that embody the spirit of the Elis line impeccably.

Swarovski has brought together the finest materials around with the crystal and diamond Rock ’n’Light.

The standard version was first unveiled in Basel, and the “Rock ’n’Light” is an exercise in true style, featuring the largest crystal ever cut and produced by Swarovski for a watch.

The “coussin cut crystal frames the dial majestically and its square metal bezel. A rock of light with 32 perfectly symmetrical facets, this uniquely proportioned crystal is the epitome of femininity, and the crystal and diamond version of the watch has been designed for all women who live life with a rock’n’roll attitude.

The Numbered, Limited Edition “Rock ‘n’Light”is available in three versions: White & Diamonds, Black & Diamonds, and Prune & Diamonds, with 999 units produced of each.

ELIS BANGLE

At once a watch and an item of jewellery, this piece is another example of the successful marriage between fashion and watchmaking. Inspired by a model from Swarovski’s first watch collection launched in 2009, the “Elis Bangle” is available in two ultra-glamorous sizes and takes the form of a chunky bracelet.

Conserving the “Elis’watch’s subtle steel square bezel shaped in the form of a pyramid, this model is available in large and small format.

Locman Presents Montecristo

Montecristo is the first mechanical watch developed by the Scuola Italiana di Orologeria (Italian Watchmaking School)

Montecristo island unexpectedly appears on the horizon as one looks out from the Island of Elba on clear days when the clouds are swept away by the north-westerly mistral, before vanishing again in the mists as soon as the wind turns. The mysterious profile of this legendary treasure island remains imprinted in the memory until the next time, a picturesque image evoking wild and wonderful places.

Special attention was devoted to creating the new oscillating weight, a decisive element in the automatic winding of the watch: built in a “heavyweight” alloy according to a patented design and coated with a black PVD treatment, the oscillating weight of the Montecristo ensures perfect rotation when the watch is placed on the wrist, even during less energetic daily movements.

This approach serves to ensure a greater power reserve for the spring that thus efficiently sustains the operation of the watch throughout the night. The Montecristo is assembled, adjusted and controlled in the Locman laboratories by technicians and experts of the S.I.O., the Scuola Italiana di Orologeria (Italian Watchmaking School) founded by Locman in 2006.
